Lebanon's ambassador to the United Nations Amal Mudallali sent a letter to the UN Security Council accusing Israel of hacking into the country's telephone network in order to warn residents of southern Lebanon of a threat caused by Hezbollah efforts to dig tunnels on border with Israel.

Senior U.S. officials familiar with Israel's discovery of these new tunnels-a tactic long used by Hezbollah and Hamas to conduct cross-border raids against Israeli civilians and military personnel-say they mark a massive escalation by Iran's terror proxies.
Lebanon's Parliament speaker said Wednesday that Israel has presented no evidence to prove its claims that a network of attack tunnels has been built by Hezbollah across the countries' shared borders, as Israel's prime minister pressed for worldwide condemnation of the militant group. "The Lebanese army is ready to deal with any possible incidents".
The Israeli military said it provided UNIFL with a map of the area around Ramieh village on which houses were marked which are "connected to another attack tunnel that has been dug from Lebanon into Israel", army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus said.
"We're going to destroy more (tunnels)".

In a meeting with United Nations peacekeepers on Wednesday, Lebanon parliament's speaker Nabih Berri said the Israeli accusation was not based on "any real facts at all".
The army has dismissed any suggestion of political influence in the operation, but some in the opposition, while supporting the army's actions, have pointed to how Netanyahu handled the announcement.
"Today we have launched Operation Northern Shield".
In addition, in the regional and global affairs, the imposition of the USA sanctions against Iran has failed.
"We caught Hezbollah unprepared for this event", said the officer, "[Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan] Nasrallah is very embarrassed.
Rafat Badawi, Lebanese analyst told Elnashra, "The outcry of the Zionist enemy is a shout of fear and horror, and propaganda and media devices are not important for misleading public opinion on either side".
