Post-apocalyptic Far Cry to be unveiled tomorrow

Naturally, we watch it every year. What we don't know yet is whether or not this is a full-priced game, or a cheaper (and perhaps sillier) spinoff like Blood Dragon.

Hot on the heels of Far Cry 5 - which only released in March 2018 - Ubisoft has revealed it's already working on the next entry in the Far Cry series entitled Far Cry New Dawn.

Ubisoft has released a teaser trailer for the next Far Cry game. Some players were turned right the fuck off by that nihilistic ending ("What the hell was the point of all this, then?"); others embraced the inherent bleakness of the whole thing ("Haha, there was really no point to any of this, then!").

So it appears that the next Far Cry will take place in a post-apocalyptic landscape - the trailer depicts the protagonist wielding a crossbow loaded with a rusty circular saw, suggesting that foraging for materials and crafting weapons will be an important game mechanic.

Will it be a full-blown game, though?

It starts out on a shot of a barn, which somewhat resembles the rural American setting of this year's Far Cry 5.

Tune into the Game Awards for the world premiere of the next Far Cry.

Alternatively, Ubisoft could be treating it as a separate spin-off, similar to Far Cry Primal, and the similarities to Far Cry 5 are just being played up by the teaser.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow night!
