Although Karthik Subbaraj's films have earned wide critical acclaim, his recent movies have not done well at the box-office.
Well, that was in the year 2005, and now after fourteen years, a Superstar movie would face competition if the current release schedules are followed without any change.
That said, there had been quite a lot of talk surrounding "Superstar" Rajinikanth's Petta entering the Pongal race, which has now been officially confirmed by Sun Pictures and director Karthik Subbaraj.
In case you did not know, Petta is a multi-starrer and also features "Makkal Selvan" Vijay Sethupathi in the lead.More news: Israelis call for Netanyahu to resign over Gaza truce

The film has been produced by Sun Pictures and is made on a huge budget. Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for his first Rajinikanth starrer. It is also Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's first Tamil film.
Petta also stars Malavika Mohanan, Megha Akash and Bobby Simha among others in important roles.
The post-production work of the movie is in full swing.
