LSU ranked #7 in CFB playoff rankings

No.1 Alabama is projected to face off with No.4 MI while No.2 Clemson is projected to face off with No. 3 Notre Dame.

MI coach Jim Harbaugh has the Wolverines in the top 4 of the College Football Playoff Rankings for the first time since 2016. Not until they have a second loss of their own, anyway. 3 LSU was shut out 29-0 by Alabama.

The defense clearly remains a concern, but the offense puts up crooked numbers every week, keeping them in most games. "We had a meeting with the staff today, we got to let it go. We have the 24-hour rule and we have to press on to Arkansas and I do believe we're going to do that". The Buckeyes are the lowest-ranked one-loss Power Five team and ahead of them are Oklahoma and West Virginia, who play each other in two weeks.

Assuming the top three unbeaten teams would get in by winning out, here are the paths to the playoff.

If Georgia (8-1) wins out, it is expected to be in the playoff for the second straight year.

Listen, I know that when it comes to the bottom of the rankings, it's hard to find worthy teams, but it's much more difficult to look at this Auburn team and deem it as one of the 25 best in the country.

Take a quick glance at the rankings and notice how many highly ranked teams still have to play each other. From the very start of the season, just about everybody associated with college football predicted Alabama and Georgia would meet in the SEC title game, a rematch of last season's national championship game.
