Beyonce Endorses Beto O’Rourke on Election Day

Polling has at times shown a close race, but Cruz has consistently led.

O'Rourke is running to unseat Sen.

Tonight we find out if media hype and celebrity endorsements can win the Democrats a seat in the U.S. Senate in Texas.

'I love the way you are anybody but Ted Cruz, ' Triumph, as played by Colbert's former colleague Robert Smigel, told O'Rourke during their interview.

Triumph spoke with Democratic candidate Beto O'Rourke first and joked with him about his support with younger voters. Triumph jokingly suggests that voters of color should "act more white" by dropping The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel into conversation, and mentioning Ed Sheeran as much as possible.

"This is the man, what's Ted Cruz have that you don't have?" You can see Beto trying (and failing) not to laugh. Though the senator has since become one of Trump's staunchest defenders, the president nonetheless staged a massive rally in Houston just two weeks before Election Day to ensure his conservative base wouldn't abandon Cruz.

"I just want to say to Triumph, my advice is walk away", Cruz quipped.

'Ted, is it true you will defend the Constitution at all costs except for when Donald Trump calls it ugly on Twitter?', Triumph asked.

Triumph then asked voters about Cruz looking like the Zodiac killer, adding that he'd kill far more people than the Zodiac killer with his plans to repeal Obamacare. Given that Conan O'Brien's TBS show "Conan" is on hiatus, Colbert explains at the start of the segment above, O'Brien was happy to loan one of his correspondents, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, to Colbert.

"Hey, I support spaying and neutering", Triumph said, "just like Trump did to you!"

Cruz tried to counter the dog puppet by saying Democrats were responsible for him being snipped. Early voting in the state's 30 largest counties alone already exceeded the total number of ballots cast during the 2014 midterm elections in Texas.
