Today, the developer announced its second-ever mobile game (after the collectible card RPG Hearthstone) with Diablo: Immortal. It's easy to see why a mobile Diablo game developed by third-party studio NetEase isn't quite what fans of the series were hoping for - though asking rude questions during a live panel is nearly certainly a less constructive way to express that disappointment than disliking a video or leaving negative feedback online.
Diablo Immortals is now set to release sometime in 2019.
Blizzard will offer "dynamic events" in special public zones, according to the company, and there will be chances to slash through instanced dungeons. This new chapter takes place between the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and the beginning of Diablo III.
Blizzard is the home to some of the biggest game franchises of all time: Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft, and more recently Overwatch.More news: Chinese firm charged with economic espionage
For a newcomer to the series, I personally loved the gameplay trailer of Diablo Immortal and can't wait to have this new experience on my smartphone along with my friends.
As far as controls go, Blizzard claims that "the transition from mouse-and-keyboard or controller to mobile touchscreen device was created to feel completely natural, intuitive and fun". Blizzard says that we will see stories surrounding characters like: Deckard Cain, Malthael, and even the backstory behind the Demon Hunters.
Introduced as a remaster for "another Titan" in a knowing what was probably a knowing nod to its lore, the announcement was made by Pete Stilwell, senior producer at Blizzard, during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2018. As such, multiple players can log in and work together to fight the hordes of demons invading the world of Sanctuary. According to Blizzard, more playable classes will be added in future updates. You can now pre-register for the game on Google Play, but fret not if you're on iOS, it's going there, too. Each class will also get its own Rare minion that's a 0/3 with stealth for one turn and powerful passive abilities.
