Davidson makes light of engagement to Grande, fans go on offensive

"Hey, Maggie", Pete said, casually introducing himself to the singer-songwriter. Still, he made enough of an impression for "SNL" to work a failed engagement crack into a promo with this week's host Jonah Hill and musical guest Maggie Rogers.

After she turns him down, he says: "0 for 3". "You wanna get married?" a blue-haired Davidson asks the singer.

The two called it quits earlier this month after getting engaged in June after dating for just a few weeks.

After the couple's break-up last month, it appears that they aren't entirely on the best terms.

One of those on the internet was Grande who took to her Twitter to shade her ex-fiancé for making fun of her. She tweeted after the video aired, "For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh. thank u. next".

An insider close to Grande told People that the comedian joking around about the breakup was 'not shocking to anyone, ' but ill-timed, nonetheless.

"Ariana tweeted about their breakup right after the split; why is she allowed to address it publicly, and he's not?"

So, was Grande shading Davidson? Grande then shared another tweet which directly referenced the promo.

If comedy is the thing that saves Pete Davidson - well, it also lost him Ariana Grande.
