OnePlus 6T now official with a smaller notch

This phone offers some relatively new innovations such as Screen Unlock, an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. Similar to the Vivo V11 Pro and the OPPO R17, the OnePlus 6T now flaunts a larger 6.41-inch display with a screen-to-body ratio of 86 per cent - thanks to the tiny water drop style notch, and nearly non-existing bezels, making it feel slightly taller and wider. The 6T boasts 128GB of internal storage, fingerprint security functionality, 8GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 845 processor, a 20 mega-pixel dual rear camera and 16 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 6.41-inch OLED screen. While the OnePlus 6 came with a 3300mAh battery, the OnePlus 6T has been bumped up to a 3700mAh battery pack. The company's CEO has taken the stage to showcase the successor of the OnePlus 6 - the 6T in all its glory. That's not a bad thing, though, as the OP6 had pretty high-end features.

Since there's only room for the front camera left, the earpiece now rests on the edge of the forehead and the sensors have been cleverly incorporated in and around the notch. Another camera feature is Studio Lighting, which will recognize a human face in the frame and adjust the lighting to simulate professional lighting.

Perhaps the biggest bummer is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The company now provides a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.

It ships running OnePlus's OxygenOS running atop Android 9 Pie.

There's also 802.11ac 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 support, as befits any self-respecting flagship phone these days. Announced during yesterday's OnePlus 6T launch event, Nightscape promises improved clarity, less noise, and improved color reproduction and dynamic range in low-light situations.

Speaking about the new feature, at the launch North America Region and Global Marketing, Kyle Kiang, said: "We have been thinking about what low light photography actually means".

This all adds up to the reality that a OnePlus 6 case just won't fit on a 6T, no matter how loose or stretchy it may be.

The OnePlus 6T starts at £499 for 128GB of storage with 6GB of RAM and tops out at £579 with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.

On Monday, T-Mobile's flagship store in Times Square saw a larger crowd of people waiting to buy the OnePlus 6T than it did for the new iPhones, a T-Mobile employee told me at the store on Monday.

In terms of colours, there's a choice of either Mirror Black or Midnight Black - basically shiny or matte.
