"When the child did not show up at the residence, the father assumed plans had changed for the mother and left the home".
The child, the child's father and the woman in the video have all been identified but deputies are still trying to get in contact with the woman in the video to question her about the incident, according to Spencer. The woman seen in the surveillance video dropped the little boy off at the wrong home. Spencer, who is a father, said the video was disturbing to watch.
The mother was being interviewed by police on Thursday, authorities said, but said she was not who left the child at the doorstep.
Sheriff's officials said the woman is likely in her 20s or 30s, had long hair reaching below her waist and multiple tattoos on her right arm.
Afterwards, the boy was taken into protective custody but within several hours, tips from the public identified him. At this point the identity of the suspect and the child are unknown.
Lieutenant Scott Spencer, of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, said the boy's father was told by the mother via text that the child would be dropped off at his house on Wednesday afternoon.
