$1 million Powerball ticket sold in Lexington; jackpot swells to $430 million

The Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to more to $900 million while the Powerball jackpot soared to $430 million after no tickets hit on Wednesday, meaning a combined $1.3 billion awaits lottery players this weekend, USA Today reported.

A $150,000 winning ticket from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing was sold in Owensboro.

The numbers drawn were: 03-57-64-68-69 and the Powerball number was 15.

Details of where the winning Florida ticket was sold were not immediately available.

The Powerball jackpot meanwhile, has not been claimed since August 11 and Wednesday's draw failed to produce a lucky victor, Boston 25 News reported.

Lottery officials say three people have won $1 million playing in the past 10 days.

"The lottery officials who run Mega Millions tweaked the rules and odds of the game in October previous year to make jackpots pay out less frequently, spurring their monster growth", Ascienzo, who has studied lottery ticket purchase data from 2012 to 2018, tells FOX Business.

The next Powerball drawing takes place 11 p.m. EDT Saturday.
