Ross Barkley feels more mature after two years in England wilderness

Undefeated Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool top the table on 20 points - Arsenal and Spurs both have 18. I've had expectations on me from a young age and I've dealt with them.

Barkley has not played for his country since the friendly against Australia prior to Euro 2016, but was handed a recall last week by boss Gareth Southgate for the Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.

The Catalan, who experienced three chastening defeats to Liverpool last season in the Premier League and Champions League quarter-finals, was wary of being exposed by Jurgen Klopp's side and, as a result, the match was not much of a spectacle. "For Jordan Henderson it was exactly two weeks, which is amusing. That is sometimes preferable to me in this phase than to play against the really small countries".

It's great living there, I haven't got any kids or anything yet, so I just wanted to experience living in west London.

"I see him every day in the training sessions, I see him every day practice penalties and it gave me a lot of confidence", said Guardiola after he instructed Gabriel Jesus, who earlier replaced regular penalty taker Sergio Aguero, to hand the ball to Mahrez.

"But I think it is not about these games, it is all about the other games, the hard games which we have against mid-table and lower teams".

Before the start of the new Premier League season, everyone had their money on Manchester City to defend their league title. I've worked on my weaknesses defensively and worked on my attacking strengths.

That has seen Van Dijk mentioned as one of the best defenders in Europe, even Chelsea star Eden Hazard saying: "Van Dijk since a year ago is one of the best in the world for sure".

"They are built for that, Jurgen (Klopp) is built for that".

"After where I was at, I had had a hard season through injuries and I had a few niggles but kept a positive mind". Despite having made just one start in a red shirt this season, the 24-year-old is trusting the process.

"We have all got the same goal, we all want to achieve success for England and we are getting close to that". "I'm so comfortable (with) the performance we have done".

After starting the season with seven straight victories, Liverpool have now failed to win any of their past four matches.
