LG Unveils V40 ThinQ Smartphone With Five Cameras

The Dual Phase Detection Autofocus enables automatic focusing that's 50 percent faster, and the f/1.5 aperture allows the LG V40 ThinQ to have greater depth of field, half the shutter lag, and a "significantly faster" burst mode. The Mate 20 Pro, meanwhile, is likely to cost at least as much as the V40, but it'll deliver better specs, new features, and a triple main camera. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

The newly launched V-series smartphone comes with triple camera setup at the back with a standard 12MP lens with a focal length of f1.5, a 12MP telephoto lens with a focal length of f2.4 and a 16 super wide-angle lens with a focal length of f1.9.

LG says that it's bundled several software features into the V40 ThinQ to help you utilize all those cameras. The same applies to the dual front camera, which consists of an 8-megapixel sensor (f/1.9 aperture, 80° angle) and a 5-megapixel sensor (f/2.2 aperture, 90° angle). If the onboard storage seems rather small, the smartphone has a dedicated micro-SD card to expand storage by up to 512GB. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and soon will get Android 9.0 Pie. A 3300mAh battery powers the phone, when it comes time to recharge, you can use Quick Charge 3.0 via a wired connection or you can opt for wireless charging. The smartphone measures 158.8 x 75.7 x 7.6 mm and sports an aluminum frame on the back and a Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer on the front.

The most interesting feature by far however is Cine Shot which uses all three lenses to take a photo/movie hybrid. It offers up to 3x optical zoom.

All the camera sensors feature digital image stabilization for video along with HDR recording. Coming to the rescue for most of the people, LG has kept 3.5 mm jack with 32-bit Quad DAC support.

The V40 ThinQ is also created to withstand dust and water according to IP68 standards as well as MIL-ST-810G certification. It retails in the U.S. between $ 900 and $ 980 depending on the mobile carrier. This is all for the LG V40 ThinQ, what are your thoughts on the device? The flagship Android smartphone will be available from October 18.

It is available in four different colour variants of Aurora Black, Platinum Grey, Carmine Red, and Moroccan Blue. However, the company hasn't announced availability for other regions yet.

Unfortunately, the LG Watch W7 doesn't pack Qualcomm's newly shown-off 3100 chip and instead packs the chipmaker's last-gen 2100 processor. Upon the pre-order of an LG V40 ThinQ, the company offers a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal and a SanDisk 256 GB microSD card for free, along with the device.
