A former USA reality TV contestant and his girlfriend are accused of drugging and raping two women.
Robicheaux was a surgeon for the NewportCare Medical Group, but he has been removed from the company's website. However, police are investigating whether he assaulted his patients.
"We've all heard of a wolf in sheep's clothing", Orange County DA Tony Rackauckas told reporters Tuesday. But a wolf can wear scrubs or be a doctor's clothing. "Or the wolf can be a attractive woman", Rackauckas said. "It appears they are highly intoxicated beyond the ability to consent or resist, they are barely responsive to the defendants' sexual advances", he said.
A California couple accused of preying on two women, drugging and sexually assaulting them have denied the allegations, their lawyers say. Though she was not assaulted or victimized, the encounter left her shaken, Lauren Hayden said. Prosecutors believe that the three ended up at Grant's apartment, where she was given multiple drugs and then raped.
The two alleged victims "might have felt a false sense of security" with the pair because they are "clean cut and good looking, " Rackauckas said.
He said Riley and Robicheaux met one woman, 32, at a restaurant in Newport Beach in April 2016. The other victim said she became intoxicated and passed out at a bar on October 2, 2016, and was taken to Robicheaux's apartment, where she was assaulted, the district attorney said. Reportedly, the second woman woke up and screamed for help until a neighbor called 911.
Attorneys for Robicheaux and Riley issued a joint statement on Tuesday, denying the charges.More news: Long Island man threatened to shoot child following Fortnite loss
"[Victims] may feel there's no crime to report because they normally drank alcohol or consumed substances with the defendants", Rackauckas said.
Riley introduced herself to the two alleged victims and then brought them over to meet Robicheaux, according to Rackauckas, who said the drugs they are accused of using include Ecstasy, date rape drugs and cocaine.
The district attorney said the couple looked like "clean-cut, good-looking people", but colluded to seduce and assault women they met at bars and local festivals.
While their attorneys deny "all allegations of non-consensual sex", the Orange County District Attorney's Office held a press conference detailing the accusations against them. In one video, Rackauckas says, the couple is in a bar, Cerissa "introduces her [self]. and then introduces her to Robicheaux and then they invite her to a party". Robicheaux could face up to 40 years in prison, while Riley could face a sentence of up to 30 years and eight months.
The defense attorneys said Riley is Robicheaux's girlfriend, while Rackauckas referred to her as a "female companion" and "purported girlfriend".
On Jan. 9, they defendants were found in possession of large quaintness of illegal drugs and Robicheaux was found with two illegal and unregistered assault rifles, four other guns and several large capacity magazines. "Riley believe that such allegations do a disservice to, and dangerously undermine, the true victims of sexual assault, and they are eager to have the proper spotlight shed on this case in a public trial".
Robicheaux is known for treating multiple sponsored athletes and for being featured on the 2014 Bravo TV show "Online Dating Rituals of the American Male", while Riley is a teacher.
