Stewart, Storm sweep Mystics for WNBA title

Seattle Storm forward and league MVP Breanna "Stewie" Stewart hopes to eat and drink all that her "heart desires" in coming days after leading her team to its third WNBA title Wednesday night.

When I got her the next year with the U-19, even the amount of improvement in that one year was incredible.

"We understand that the difference here is we have a chance to win a championship and not just advance to the next round", Bird said. "I'm going to tell you what, they were special in November, January, and when we started April 29th, and they're special tonight". Washington already has staved off elimination on three occasions this postseason: The Mystics routed Los Angeles in a single-elimination second-round matchup at home; they won Game 4 at home in the semifinals; and then they won on the road in a squeaker over Atlanta in Game 5 to advance to the WNBA Finals.

Stewart was a unanimous choice to the all-WNBA first team, the league announced Wednesday, while fellow UConn graduate Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury extended her own record with a 10th first-team selection.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt sank a three-pointer with 6:49 left to cut Seattle's 16-point lead to five (72-67).

-Turnovers: They've done a great job of taking care of the basketball and had only seven turnovers in game two. I didn't know if I'd be playing at this point. "I felt more and more uncomfortable as we kept going". I have to be honest with you, on the plane I was reflecting on that.

In July Bird said that she believed Stewart opening up about her past had a connection to the maturity she's seen in Stewart this year, also noting that on the court she seemed more confident and driven. "Where we were picked and where we ended up, they should be excited about, and they should be excited about the future".

The two All-Stars on the team, Delle Donne and Toliver, had a cute moment at the podium minutes after their season ended when discussing the budding chemistry the team has had over the past two years when the pieces first came together. "Best feeling in the world".

Howard was a deep reserve for Minnesota during the Lynx's title run a year ago, averaging 1.1 points and 0.9 points. "I think anyone in coaching, we always think there is a little more we can do". Now I can go to the bar and order her everything she needs. "I need to wash things really often". So for me to be here now, not that I didn't enjoy the other ones, but I'm just truly enjoying this right now.

"And I didn't know if I would be back to the Finals ever again". "This isprobably going to be one of the defining moments of my career".
