U.S. rapper Mac Miller dead at 26

Miller was reportedly found dead in his southern California home from a drug overdose.

Los Angeles police said they responded to a report of a deceased person at a home on the same block where Miller is listed as a resident, and had turned the case over to the coroner's office.

Miller was involved in a hit-and-run crash in May when his vehicle hit a utility pole.

Miller famously dated singer Ariana Grande for two years before wrecking his Mercedes-Benz G-Class, or G-Wagon, in May when he was arrested for DUI.

Miller, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, was open about his issues with addiction and substance abuse in the past. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years.

McCromick was in a 2-year relationship with Ariana Grande until May.

"I made a stupid mistake".

Grande had previously been targeted by online bullies who blamed Miller's recent legal troubles on their breakup.

After taking some time off, Miller had seemed to be on the road to recovery after dropping his therapeutic album Swimming last month and his soul transcending Tiny Desk performance on NPR with Thundercat.

Celebrities have begun to express their condolences, including frequent collaborator Wiz Khalifa.

Chancelor Bennet, better known as Chance The Rapper, said they were good friends and helped him to launch his career.

The rapper, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, rose to fame after topping U.S. charts with his debut album in 2011.
