The first look at Captain Marvel has found its way online!
Here are a few new photos, including the first shot of Jude Law, who "plays the commander of Starforce, who views Carol as a mentee and pet project". But how will Captain Marvel set up our eleventh-hour Avenger?
The new photos from the film were shared by Entertainment Weekly, where you can see all 10 images.
Here's a look at Captain Marvel's Starforce team, an elite group of space-faring military fighters who travel the cosmos keeping chumps in line. According to a caption from EW, the Skrulls are among the "nastiest and most notorious baddies" in all of Marvel comics.More news: Kolkata bridge collapse kills one man and leaves dozens injured
EW, being the cheeky scamps they are, have something "Marvel-ous" in mind.
EW has some exclusive stills from the film, but don't sleep on their captions; it's here that Marvel fans can learn the most about what's going to happen in the MCU's first female-fronted film.
We see Ben Mendelsohn's Talos in his natural green and his shapeshifted human form - both equally intimidating visages for the Skrull leader since his human alter-ego will be undercover at S.H.I.E.L.D.
Now there's the costume we were looking for! Among the returning characters is a young Nick Fury, who will still be played by Samuel L. Jackson, and the fan-favorite actor has shared his reaction to his de-aged self as seen in one of the recently unveiled Captain Marvel photos. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers.
Captain Marvel is an origin story set in the past, much like the first Captain America film. But don't get your hopes up for the title hero to smash up Thanos in a follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War; this piece is a bit of a prequel, taking place in the 1990s and finding the half-human, half-Kree warrior fully in control of her incredible powers.
