According to Box Office India, while most circuits reported equally healthy numbers for both films, Gold took the lead in circuits like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, East Punjab and Mumbai thanks to Kumar's massy fan following.
Reema Kagti directed "Gold" has collected Rs 33.25 crore after two days of its release. However, Gold managed to surpass the collection of Satyameva Jayate and now stands at Rs 55 crore. That's a strong showing for a vigilante drama considering it released with another patriotic Independence Day week offering - Akshay Kumar's Gold, which opened with Rs 25.25 crore on Wednesday and has crossed the Rs 50-crore mark with its Saturday earning. His satirical comedy Toilet: Ek Prem Katha released this time past year had made Rs 11.34 crore on its opening day and Rs. 132.07 crore in lifetime box office collections. His previous release Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran did good business at the box office as well, and it looks like Satyameva Jayate will go the same way. On the other hand, Milap Zaveri's Satyameva Jayate starring John Abraham and Manoj Vajpayee made close to Rs 20.5 crore on opening despite tough competition from Gold.More news: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has shocker as Arsenal lose at Chelsea
Despite an opening of over Rs 18 crore, John Abraham-starrer showed a noticeable dip in small screen circuits, boxofficeindia stated. Satyameva Jayate is on the fifth while Gold got the third biggest opening. "This is a clash that has resulted in cash for all involved", said film trade analyst Atul Mohan.
