Aretha Franklin's family confirm she is "seriously ill"

Stevie Wonder visited an ailing Aretha Franklin at her home in Detroit on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.

The 20-year-old "OTW" singer was spotted at Los Angeles airport recently and paparazzi caught up with him to see if he thought Aretha Franklin was the Queen of Soul, being as shes reported to be on her last days.

Few details have emerged about the singer's condition or illness but she is said to be in hospice care, surrounded by family and friends.

Franklin's best-known songs span many decades and include Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, I Knew You Were Waiting For Me and Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves.

We wanted to take a moment and celebrate some of her greatest songs, especially ones that got people moving their feet to the beat. "She has always been a very private person and the last thing she wanted was to reveal this hard time in her life with her fans".

"Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months", Franklin's management said in a statement at the time. After her performance, he said, "Nobody embodies more fully the connection between the African-American spiritual, the blues, R&B, rock and roll the way that hardship and sorrow were transformed into something full of beauty and vitality and hope".

Earlier this week, fans became concerned for the singer, after it was reported that she was "gravely ill".

Franklin, 76, was hospitalized in Detroit on Sunday, according to Showbiz411. She is asking for your prayers at this time.

In her heyday of the 1960 and 1970s, Franklin dominated the music charts with hits including I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You), (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, and Respect, a cover of an Otis Redding tune that became a song of empowerment during the U.S. civil rights era. "I just knew I wanted to be like that!"
