The device, which hits stores on August 24 and is available for pre-order starting Friday, offers the same look and feel of other Note devices, but the screen is slightly bigger than its predecessor at 6.4 inches.

As for the Galaxy Note 9 512 GB, that won't be offered on every carrier.

In the USA, the Galaxy Note 9 will be available in Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple.

Currently, if you play Fortnite on a console like the PS4, you might inadvertently be playing against keyboard and mouse players, while yourself using a controller. Priced at $11.99 and available through Samsung direct, it includes on-site technical support and assistance, along with a replacement device if yours breaks. Lovers of the game would get an exclusive Note 9 character skin, or alternative appearance for characters. You will need a recent Samsung device for this access, so as long as you own a S7, S8, S9, Note 8, note 9, tab S3, or tab S4, you should be golden.

We already know that the Note9 will sport a 6.4-inch, 2960×1440 AMOLED screen, up to 512GB of storage (expandable to a massive 1TB) and a 4,000mAh battery.

Specs-wise, the Galaxy Note 9 isn't too much of a major upgrade from the Note 8. You can use it to control the camera's shutter, and if you're doing a presentation with the Note 9 - especially relevant, now that the phone supports DeX with just an HDMI adapter - a single click moves on to the next slide, while a double click goes back. As with the S9 it has the variable dual-aperture system (f/1.5 and f/2.4) created to mimic the human eye, a 2x optical zoom on the secondary lens, and a dual-pixel sensor for super slow-mo video recording. Both lenses also sport optical image stabilization (OIS). Instead it has a 12MP lens with an f/1.7 aperture and another 12MP lens with an f/2.4 one.

The Note 8 lacks the Note 9's intelligent camera features listed above, but it's still capable of great shots. The 512 GB Note 9 has some of the largest onboard storage of a phone you can get, and Samsung also adds extra memory, bringing it up to 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. On the front there is an 8MP front shooter.

"We believe gamers will benefit from competition among software sources on Android". After all, Samsung claims an all-day battery life with the Note 9.

The live stream event for the Galaxy Unpacked showcase begins at 4pm United Kingdom time, and you can watch it on YouTube, Samsung's website or on Twitter.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is of course available now, and it's a fair bit cheaper.

Some changes are bigger than others, and few come as much of a surprise - especially given all the leaks ahead of launch - but on paper the Note 9 looks to be about what we'd expect. Outside the USA, it'll come in black and copper.
