North Carolina topped the list of salmonella outbreaks with 27 reported cases, followed by Wisconsin with 18.

Flowers Foods is voluntarily recalling Swiss Rolls.

In a series of voluntary product pulls ordered on Monday by both Pepperidge Farms and Mondelez, respectively, customers were advised to return potentially contaminated snacks to the place of purchase for a refund.

The four products include Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar, Flavor Blasted Sour Cream & Onion, Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain Xtra Cheddar, and Goldfish Mix Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel. As with the other items recalled, whey powder is one of the ingredients in a seasoning in these items.

The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert involving individual frozen microwavable dinners with "Hungry Man Chipotle BBQ Sauced Boneless Chicken WYNGZ" printed on the label and bearing a best buy date of September 6, 2019. Dinners impacted by the recall will have the establishment numbers "EST. P138" or "P-138" on the package. The product was shipped to retailers in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The company said it has not received any complaints or reports of its customers contracting Salmonella but made a decision to recall products voluntarily. No deaths have been reported, the CDC said.

The organization says the investigation is ongoing. While most infections usually last from four to seven days and most people recover without treatment, some persons may develop severe diarrhea that requires hospitalization.
