Liverpool Make Official Bid For Roma Keeper Alisson

Roma signed Alisson for a reported €7.5m in 2016 from Brazilian side Internacional.

On Wednesday evening, Alisson boarded a flight from Ciampino Airport to Manchester and will travel from there via a private auto to Liverpool.

Liverpool have negotiated a £66m fee for the Brazil goalkeeper and now talks are underway between the club and player.

Alisson had been linked with Liverpool for some time and was subject of an unsuccessful inquiry back in January.

Should the Brazilian worldwide make the move to the Premier League he would overtake Italian Gianluigi Buffon as the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

He spoke to Jurgen Klopp yesterday expressing his desire to join the club and Liverpool then increased their offer to reach the agreement. Klopp saw the Dutchman as the ideal man to fit into Liverpool's defence and paid the asked price, making him the most expensive defender of all time.

Allison, in contrast to Karius, didn't register a single mistake in 37 Serie A games for Roma. It's obvious to everyone - look at what happened in the Champions League final. "Now it is more in one direction".

Klopp was already considering a new goalkeeper before that poor performance.

The Reds are now expected to hold talks with the Brazil worldwide.

Liverpool beat Chelsea to the punch but it seems the Blues cooled their interest when they learned that the goalkeeper preferred making a switch to Merseyside as opposed to London.

The 25-year-old is scheduled to depart Rome within the hour and will undergo a medical with the Reds in the next few days.
