Alexis Sanchez is a notable absentee on Manchester United's preseason tour of the United States after the Chilean's tax problems have stopped him from getting a visa.

Manchester United are reportedly considering making a move for Croatia's World Cup star Ante Rebic this summer.

Speaking from Los Angeles, a spokeswoman for the club said United still hoped the 29-year-old would be able to join them once his "personal administrative issue" had been resolved.

Spanish law is such that any sentence under two years for a non-violent crime rarely requires a defendant without previous convictions to serve jail time.

There is a waiver scheme and it is understood Sanchez is working with his lawyers in an effort to be granted access to the United States.

Perisic also had a big role to play in the World Cup final as he scored a goal for Croatia to level the tie at 1-1 against France.

"I think three weeks is the minimum they need, which means that they're going to be back in the week when the Premier League starts, which means they're not ready to start the Premier League, which is I think hard to understand, where we could have one more week to prepare everybody".

The Edinburgh-born midfielder was part of the Red Devils travelling party that jetted across the Atlantic and could feature in games against Champions League winners Real Madrid, Liverpool, AC Milan, San Jose Earthquakes and Club America.

Luke Shaw is prepared to walk away from Manchester United on a free transfer next summer if his first-team prospects at Old Trafford do not improve, sources have told ESPN FC.
