The 27-year-old has always been linked with a move to Los Blancos, and with Cristiano Ronaldo looking likely to leave the Madrid club, this transfer could now become a reality for the Belgian star.

"Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you: thank you to the club, the president, the directors, my colleagues, all the staff, doctors, physios and incredible people that make everything work", said Cristiano Ronaldo. "I feel that way and I ask everyone, and especially our followers, to please understand", Ronaldo said in an open letter yesterday.

Belgium have won all their games from the group stages before they got to the last four, and their credentials will be put to test by France who have also been superb so far at Russian Federation 2018 World Cup.

Ronaldo, whose World Cup campaign with Portugal was ended in the last 16 by Uruguay just under two weeks ago, hinted after May's Champions League final victory over Liverpool that he was considering leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

It was very nice to be in Madrid.

In nine years at the Bernabéu, Ronaldo became Real's all-time top scorer with 451 goals, helping the Spanish club to four Champions League titles in the past five seasons.

Whether a mooted move in the region of £88m happens remains to be seen, but either way with Ronaldo now 33-years-old, Madrid have to plan for the future. They have been nine extraordinary years.

Dybala was not told about Juve's plans to sign Ronaldo.

Serie A will be the third of Europe's four biggest leagues that Ronaldo has graced, and his move shows that none of his drive and ambition have decreased in the latter stages of his career.

The reigning Ballon d'Or victor is also reportedly set to complete his medical at Vinovo at the start of next week.
