A Washington-area teacher confronted Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt while he was eating lunch on Monday, and things got uncomfortable.

Ingraham, who has been supportive of almost all of President Donald Trump's appointees, has been critical of the administrator amid claims ranging from inappropriate use of government funds, to personal deals that raise ethics questions.

Pruitt's letter of resignation was released shortly after.

Pruitt is the latest senior member of the Trump administration to be confronted in a restaurant or public place.

"However, the unrelenting attacks on me personally, my family, are unprecedented and have taken a sizable toll on all of us".

Pruitt had appeared Wednesday at a White House picnic for Independence Day, wearing a red-checked shirt and loafers with gold trim. And Shine will not change how Trump does business.

Recently confirmed Deputy Administrator Andrew Wheeler will take over as acting administrator.

"This is my son, he loves animals, he loves clean air, he loves clean water", she continued, gesturing to her 2-year-old and reading off of a notepad to list Pruitt's scandals and alleged crimes against the environment.

While Trump has privately acknowledged that the EPA chief has created a slew of bad headlines, there is no plan to dismiss Pruitt right now, according to several sources inside the White House. "That was the position he was originally interested in".

Investigators on Capitol Hill had summoned current and former EPA aides for interviews, as part of the more than dozen federal inquiries into Pruitt's spending and management of the agency.

"I think that Scott Pruitt should have to look at that next generation that he's impacting by how he's making a lot of selfish, stupid decisions on how to spend taxpayer money", Mink said. Those groups applauded his departure.

Scott Pruitt resigned as head of the EPA today, capping nearly a year of cascading scandals about everything from his trousers to his attempt to get a Chick-fil-A franchise for his wife.

On Tuesday, Ingraham tweeted, "Pruitt is the swamp". Nothing happened with that because Pruitt does the will of giant fossil fuel companies, which greatly pleases the people of West Virginia, which greatly pleases the president.

Pruitt has made it his mission to slash environmental regulations since taking over the EPA.

Earlier in April, the independent Government Accountability Office said Pruitt's agency broke the law when it spent $43,000 on a soundproof phone booth without first notifying Congress.

Democrats also teed-off on Pruitt's flight expenses.
