Apple remembers colors exist in time for its 2018 iPhone lineup

But the 6.1-inch will debut in gray, white, blue, red and orange colors. "The 6.5" iPhone is expected to come in black, white, and gold.

Renowned analyst and Apple-watcher Ming-Chi Kuo (who previously worked for KGI Securities, but moved to TF International Securities in April) claims that Apple is gearing up to release a cheaper iPhone later this year in a range of new colors.

In a bit of a twist, Kuo didn't mention green or purple, but the analyst said nearly every other colour could show up on 2018 iPhones, with the upcoming 6.1-inch iPhone X successor available in "grey, white, blue, red and orange", while the larger 6.5-inch version may come in black, white and gold.

This would be a slight callback to a previous iPhone model (the iPhone 5c), which came in a number of colors for a lower price. Will the red version be a (PRODUCT) RED version?

It remains to be seen if the red color Kuo is predicting will be a Product (RED) variant, like the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are now offered in. The grey and white color options for the LCD iPhone are likely referring to space grey and silver.

Kuo expects the new iPhones to launch this year, but we don't have a specific release date yet.

LG Display might be ramping up its OLED production, just for Apple to use these screens in its upcoming iPhone lineup, which is said to include two models that will be running the aforementioned display tech. The top tier 6.5-inch iPhone will share those colors as well as the dual camera and will cost $1000.
