Shenmue I & II HD remaster release date set for August

Players can head over to the official Xbox Marketplace store page which lists the upcoming remastered bundle at $29.99 and lists some of the updated features which include modern/classic controls, updated UI, an option to toggle Japanese dialogue, and fully scalable screen resolutions.

The original Shenmue was first released in 2000 (1999 in Japan) and has only ever been available on Sega's Dreamcast console.

The physical version of Shenmue I & II will feature a double-sided poster and reversible cover, while the digital edition can be pre-ordered for a 10% discount. Fans will be happy to know that they will be able to play through the first two Shenmue games when they release simultaneously on August 21.

What makes this intriguing is that at the time of this listing, Sega has yet to officially confirm a release date for the anticipated re-release of both Shenmue games.

Interestingly, however, the tweet also contained a supposed release date for Ryo to come roundhouse-kicking back into your life, with the classic titles apparently launching on August 20.

Shenmue II arrived in 2001 on Dreamcast and was ported to the original Xbox a year later.

The Shenmue series has always been a cult classic series since the first title's debut on the Dreamcast in 1999, and now with the upcoming HD remasters of the first two titles, a whole new generation of gamers will get to experience the titles for the first time this August.
