DeMarcus Cousins joins Golden State Warriors

Former Warriors center JaVale McGee left the team to sign with the Lakers for the veteran's minimum on Sunday, and Zaza Pachulia and David West remain free agents.

So there's a lot to unpack here.

The Warriors are good enough to where they can take their time with Cousins' rehab and make sure he is totally fine before rolling him back out there. The Warriors already announced they have agreed to terms with Kevin Durant, and they will still be able to keep the roster together for another season.

Cousins' fit in the Warriors' offense will be determined by his health and his willingness to give up the ball.

A Western Conference source with an interest in the proceeding told the Herald that the Spurs did have a brief discussion with the Celtics on Wednesday, but there was said to be no real negotiation.

The move would have been a sign-and-trade that likely involved CJ McCollum. Bosh hasn't played in an National Basketball Association game since February 9th, 2016 and is now 34 years old.

Curry welcomed his new teammate on Twitter shortly after the news broke.

JJ Redick is back with the Philadelphia 76ers, agreeing to a one-year deal worth about $12 million. Durant and Green also jokingly teased Cousins by posting photos on their Instagram account that showed Cousins trying to charge into the Warriors' locker room following an in-game scuffle with Durant last season. The NBA Finals, we think, will be nothing more than a formality. It's conceivable that Golden State sticks to smaller looks in late-game scenarios during the postseason, and Cousins will need to show that he can handle benchings with maturity. Those young players and future picks can be crucial to improving if a team signs star players like James or Leonard in free agency. Tolliver has played for nine different franchises, and spent last season with Detroit.

This is a marked difference from how things went with the Cleveland Cavaliers when James returned in 2014. After Cousins was spurned by the Pelicans, the Dubs swooped in, stealing him on an incredibly affordable contract that's of little risk to the team-even if Cousins isn't fully recovered from an Achilles tear.
