Kate Spade's sister says designer's death 'not unexpected by me'


She saw how her sister seemed fixated on Robin Williams on the day, in August 2014, that he committed suicide by hanging.

The fashion world reeled at the news of her passing, and many celebrities and Spade fans tweeted their condolences. By 2015, Spade sold her company to shoe designer Stuart Weitzman for $574 million. This is not your fault.

Kate Spade's older sister says the designer had refused treatment for mental illness.

"Sometimes you simply can not SAVE people from themselves".

So I've had to learn to be as respectful". I was very sorry to read of Kate Spade's untimely passing, and hope her story serves as a reminder that sometimes, despite the support and love of people who care and their repeated attempts to get someone help, a person may still make the decision to forgo the pain they are experiencing with an act that can not be undone. The comedian shared multiple photos of the two smiling together, describing the designer as "so sharp and quick on her feet".

In addition, a spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the death of Spade, also known as Katherine Brosnahan, and accepted her case.

Spade leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix, who was reportedly at school at the time of her mother's death.

"My mom was one of the people that found her", said Mark Roldan, 23.

"She did not receive the proper care for what I believed to be (and tried numerous times to get her help for) bipolar disorder", Reta Brosnahan Saffo said in a statement issued to WNBC.

"I think there was a plan even as far back as then", Saffo said.

"As an accessory, a great bag that takes the outfit somewhere else is interesting", she told the AP in a 2000 interview.

During Spring 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, The Hills star attended the Kate Spade New York show wearing this cute little number. In fact, Spade made no money for the first three years of her company.
