Next Star Wars Spinoff Announced

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy made some potentially crucial comments when speaking at the Solo: A Star Wars Story premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Apparently reporters simply mistranslated the quote.

Donald Glover's performance as Lando Carlrissian has been praised to be one of the best parts of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Well look, it's hardly as definitive as the original GUYS LANDO'S MOVE WILL DEFINITELY BE NEXT angle that Premiere France gleefully went to press with, but we'll take it.

Actor Glover makes his debut as Calrissian in the new blockbuster, and according to French newspaper Premiere, Kathleen outlined her plans to explore the history of Solo's fellow smuggler in a new film.

In either case, Lucasfilm is still interested in making more Star Wars films so next year's Star Wars: Episode IX won't be the last one.

After taking a hiatus in 2018, the official Lucasfilm fan event will land in Chicago's McCormick Place April 11-15, 2019.

Lucasfilm kind of backtracked and mentioned Lando is something they want to do in the future, but it does not mean that it's the next standalone Star Wars movie in the pipeline. It's possible, but I don't see it coming out anytime soon.

Donald Glover, the multi-hyphenate behind Atlanta, Childish Gambino, mc DJ, and Simba on the upcoming Lion King remake, may have landed his own Star Wars spin-off if reports are to be believed.
