'Kevin Can Wait' Axed After 2 Seasons

Kevin Can Wait executive producer Andy Fickman has revealed that the CBS series has been cancelled after two seasons.

The show, in which James starred as retired police officer Kevin Gable, lasted two seasons. He thinks life will be all about hanging out with his wife and kids and going on the occasional adventure with fellow retirees, Goody and Duffy, and his brother Kyle. But the show ratings quickly declined after original female lead Erinn Hayes was killed off in the first season. I was so blessed to be able to work every day with the most unbelievable cast, crew, writers and support team! Those ratings landed the series fourth in terms of CBS' current comedy lineup, with The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and Mom all in front of it. Kevin Can Wait's ratings are numbers other networks would be more than happy with, although it appears as though CBS thinks it can find something better among new projects it has waiting in the wings.

"I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world", James wrote.

Kevin Can Wait's decision ended up being for naught in regards to guaranteeing a Season 3 and, as previously mentioned, could be one of the reasons the show's viewership dropped in Season 2.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, James thanked everyone involved with the series.

"I would like to say many thanks into the remarkable cast, crew, producers, and also the writers of @kevincanwaitcbs. You accepted me with open arms", Remini wrote on Instagram. "I was so blessed to be able to work every day with the most unbelievable cast, crew, writers and support team!"

In an interview with the New York Daily News last October, James said, "I get that people are like, 'Whoa, why would you do this?' But it really felt like a thing like this was needed for the show to drive forward".
