Lethal Weapon: Clayne Crawford Wishes Cast 'Good Luck' After Being Fired


Fox announced Sunday it has renewed its action-drama Lethal Weapon for a third season, but without Clayne Crawford, who starred in the first two seasons. Fox has ordered a third season of the hit action drama after a last minute scramble to replace the lead role opposite Damon Wayans.

With Crawford having been let go, his role will be taken over by American Pie's Sean William Scott, who will be playing an entirely new character, likely as Riggs' brother to keep the Murtagh-Riggs dynamic alive. The show's return next year may affect the future of Gotham and its chances of a fifth season.

Lethal Weapon is now the only show produced outside of Fox counterpart 20th TV on the network's 2018-19 roster.

"To my cast and crew - CONGRATULATIONS on season 3!" the post reads. However, Crawford admitted himself in a statement on Instagram that he had been disciplined regarding two incidents on the set.

Lethal Weapon was on the bubble for renewal already when the controversy surrounding Crawford broke, which seemed to further jeopardize its chances of coming back. In light of all the turmoil, "the situation had escalated to a point where Warner Bros".

Instead, Fox has hired American Pie and Road Trip actor Seann William Scott in his first series-regular TV role to join the show. Zero communication with Fox or Warner Bros.

Lethal Weapon also stars Keesha Sharp as Trish Murtaugh, Chandler Kinney as Riana Murtaugh, Dante Brown as Roger Murtaugh Jr., Jordana Brewster as Dr. Maureen "Mo" Cahill, Michelle Mitchenor as Sonya Bailey and Johnathan Fernandez as Scorsese.

This season, Lethal Weapon averaged a 1.7 most current rating among adults 18-49 and 6.9 million total viewers. It seems FOX has made a decision to do the latter, and Seann William Scott has landed his first-ever network series role. Television in association with Lin Pictures and Good Session Productions.
