Nunes made the third defence of her 135lbs title in the main event of UFC 224, which took place in her home country of Brazil in the early hours of the morning. Referee Marc Goddard stopped the 135-pound title fight at the 2:36 mark of the final round inside Jeunesse Arena. In addition to the five-match main card, there are eight other bouts scheduled for the prelims. Her corner talked her into going back out, but it was all for naught.

Amanda Nunes has been on an impressive winning streak.

"I've never fought nobody as a friend". For the first time, Nunes is a favorite - and a big favorite at that.

"I live in the USA, but I'm from Brazil and I represent Brazil with the flag and my belt", Nunes told the crowd after her sixth straight win. "It was the most hard of my career to fight this girl". But I had to defend the belt. But we are going to leave this cage and have a beer and celebrate our friendship. Because we have the respect.

According to Fightmetric, Nunes outlanded Pennington in total strikes 152-to-79.

As the round moved forward, Nunes continued to land those kicks with Pennington's leg turning different multiple shades of purple and red as a result.

Between rounds, Pennington's corner urged her not to allow Nunes to march her down and keep her back against the fence.

Lineker introduced his heavy hands at the midpoint of the first-round when he dropped Kelleher to the canvas with a left hook. Pennington recovered a bit in the second round and was able to score a takedown for her lone bright spot in the fight. Round three witnessed much of the same, until Nunes crumbled Pennington with a knee to close of the round. Her UFC title run includes high profile names such as Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey and Valentina Shevchenko.

Machida tried to set up a date with former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, who is now looking for a dance partner for his retirement bout.
