West Brom players want Darren Moore to stay

Southampton have had the last laugh on and off the pitch against Swansea as they fight for Premier League survival.

Jonny Evans has claimed that West Brom's players are hoping interim manager Darren Moore is given the job on a permanent basis.

Manolo Gabbiadini scored the victor in the 72nd minute, as Southampton claimed a 1-0 victory at Swansea on Tuesday night, to inch closer to Premier League safety for next season.

It may prove too little too late, though, with any result other than a draw between Southampton and Swansea on Wednesday night - live on Sky Sports Premier League - relegating the Baggies to the Sky Bet Championship.

This match had massive importance for teams who were not playing as well.

When Southampton squeaked a vital 0-1 away win over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday evening, they did so after having their pre-match preparations fiddled with in a number of semi-suspicious ways.

Evans has endured a hard season at West Brom, and is reportedly set to leave during the summer.

The Saints secured a vital 1-0 victory at the Liberty Stadium which has all-but ensured they will remain in the top-flight, with the Jacks left in the third relegation spot. Huddersfield Town will play at Chelsea tomorrow in their 37th match of the season.

Given Swansea are at home to Stoke and Southampton are hosting Manchester City this is not out of the question.

The Swans now occupy the final relegation spot and must beat Stoke on Sunday and hope Southampton lose to Manchester City with a 10-goal swing in their favor.

The club have been poor in their last eight games as they have failed to score a goal in six of these encounters. Swans are at -27 while the Terriers are at -29.
