Ashley Young has spoken of his devastation at hearing the news of Sir Alex Ferguson's emergency brain operation and is praying his former Manchester United manager makes a full recovery.

SIR ALEX FERGUSON was pictured talking to somebody in the van that took Alexis Sanchez from the Lowry Hotel at Carrington this morning.

He is expected to stay in hospital for some time.

Writing on his weekly blog, Mata stated that Sir Alex's circumstance has had a huge impact on everybody.

"I was in shock when I heard the news", said Da Silva.

"If anyone wants advice, a word or a pick-me-up, they will go to Air Alex". Tributes have flown in for Fergie with several managers too wishing a speedy recovery.

"I spoke to him when I joined Norwich". At the moment I am in a bit of unknown territory, I don't knew where I go from here or do I take a break?

Ferguson spent nearly 27 years in charge at Old Trafford, where his teams won some 13 Premier League titles as well as five FA Cups and the Champions League twice.

"All the Manchester City fans in the stadium, you can not find one person who does not wish the best for an awesome person", said City boss Guardiola.

"We wish him all the best and that he recovers quickly". As a manager, I'd have loved to have played for him.

Sadly, the answer to the question wasn't a good one with Doncaster suffering a 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic but the very question was simply heart-warming and perfectly sums up the man.

"He told me he is doing a lot of exercise, and he looked very happy but that kind of accident can happen". I know he has that fight in him. He has won 49 honours in his career, including 38 titles at United.

"I am programmed to try and win football games, I don't think that changes".

Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and many more posted messages of goodwill on social media after hearing the news.

"We have been thinking about him and his family, I know them all well".

The Sun claims that a source has revealed that the 76-year-old former Manchester United manager is "sitting up talking and asking about his results" - although there is no confirmation of this from the club or family at this point in time.
