Christina Aguilera fans are eating.

A show insider has since issued a statement to Entertainment Tonight in response to Aguilera's comments about the singing competition. Alongside Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and CeeLo Green, the recording artist stayed on the show for a total of six seasons from 2011 to 2016.

"It became something that I didn't feel was what I had signed up for in season one", Aguilera tells the magazine about her experience. Outside of, you know, his controversial aspects, I just think he's a great artist and music maker and beatmaker. "It's about making good TV moments and massaging a story".

"To me, there's nothing like an fantastic hip-hop beat", the singer said. The vocalist's artistic control was all but stripped from her, dictating what she could say, do, and wear. After filming shows, Aguilera shares that she would take off her makeup and blast music to try and snap herself out of the "tv mode". "It was my only kind of outlet", she said.

Aguilera refers to the show as an "energy sucker".

In a recent interview with Billboard, Aguilera poured out her thoughts about the show, which she likens to a "churning hamster wheel".

The 37-year-old singer is gearing up to release new music and wants to get back to being the "little girl who just wants to be inspired again by truth".

"I was longing for freedom", she said. She didn't want to, "have to worry about uprooting (her) kids". "I've been placing myself on the again burner".

But Aguilera is grateful to "The Voice" for one thing - reuniting her with Pink, after their long-rumored feud. "At the end of the day, I am a soul singer". "I was like, 'Another female! She'll always be a part of "The Voice" family", the statement read. She said, "this needs to happen" and she is "looking forward to getting back out [there]".

Her new album Liberation is set to release June 15 and has a song with a hip-hop, R&B vibe "Accelerate" that recently had an early release. This marks her first album since 2012's "Lotus".
