Besides Android Oreo stock features, Samsung added its proprietary personalized functions to the forthcoming update to improve the customers' satisfaction with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge series. The firmware update is now being rolled out over-the-air in the United Kingdom but is expected to roll out in other markets as well. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings - About Phone - Software Update.

SamMobile reports that the update for Galaxy S7 carries version number G930FXXU2ERD5 and the update for Galaxy S7 edge carries version number G935FXXU2ERD5.

All of the new features that are part and parcel of Android 8.0 Oreo are included in this release.

Given that the roll out has just begun, it may take time for the update to reach all units in the country, so you need to be patient.

If you come under the aforementioned categories of Galaxy S7 models users, the time has arrived to trigger the update section.

For the unfamiliar, Android Oreo brings tons of new features to the operating system, including PiP, autofill, notification channels as well as the Samsung Experience update 9.0. Samsung does not list a specific date for when the update will start rolling out, but mid-May means that it should not be more than two weeks away.
