Siri provides vulgar, alternative definition of 'mother'

This definition could be found in a variety of different Siri voices.

When you summon Siri on your phone and ask it to define the word mother, you'll find that the first definition is simple enough - giving users a straightforward definition like we'd all expect.

Writing on Reddit's Apple subreddit, user "thatwasabaddecision" pointed out that Siri went all Samuel L. Jackson (NSFW link) after being asked to define the word "mother".

"The weirdest part is the fact that Siri is such a prude when you swear at her", wrote one commenter. She will read out the classic definition, then ask "do you want to hear the next one?"

Apple did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.

Apple's virtual assistant seems to be drawing the definition from Oxford Dictionary which offers the terribly wrong answer as a secondary definition of the word - Mother. Siri is a virtual assistant of Apple that gets supported in operating systems such as iOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS. "It means, short for 'mother*@$^%r, '" she continued.

If they answer in the affirmative, Siri then described how "mother" could also be a noun. The authority has listed the offensive explanation as the second main definition, although it does come after several sub-definitions of the conventional meaning of the word.
