Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has handed over the memos from his meetings with President Donald Trump to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
"The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime", Trump wrote on Twitter Saturday night.
In December Mr Trump tweeted: "FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is racing the clock to retire with full benefits".
In an Oval Office meeting in May, Trump asked McCabe whom he had voted for in the 2016 election, several current and former US officials have told The Post, and he complained about the political donations McCabe's wife received for her failed 2015 Virginia state Senate campaign.
But Trump tweeted: "Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me".
In earlier tweets, Mr Trump accused Mr Comey of lying under oath in congressional testimony and dismissed as "fake memos" contemporaneous notes Mr McCabe and Mr Comey took of their interactions with the president.
Flake said a report from the inspector general of the Justice Department, which Attorney General Jeff Sessions cited in a statement on the firing, would come out in due time and that he expected the Senate Judiciary Committee would conduct oversight of the department. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked if he had "ever been an anonymous source in news reports about matters relating to the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?" "I believe when it comes to this issue, we need as much transparency as possible, to make sure that it was not politically motivated".
Trump had long pressured his attorney general Jeff Sessions to remove McCabe, alleging bias in the FBI was behind investigations into his campaign.
Trump said, "the Fake News", Trump's epithet for the national news media, "is beside themselves that McCabe was caught, called out and fired".
Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that he doesn't like "the way it happened" because it came just two days before McCabe had planned to retire.More news: Salmon Arm's Natalie Wilkie wins her first Paralympic gold
United States media say the memos will support Mr Comey's account of the circumstances of his dismissal last May.
Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, which spent the past year conducting a parallel investigation, recently said they had drafted a report concluding no collusion or coordination between Mr Trump's presidential campaign and Russian Federation. Same with lying James Comey.
McCabe was sacked at the recommendation of an FBI internal disciplinary process into his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
"Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!" - tweet Sunday.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and California Democratic Representative Adam Schiff both called on their Republican colleagues to temper the President. Another Dem recently added. does anyone think this is fair?
Also over the weekend, Trump's personal lawyer, John Dowd, cited the "brilliant and courageous example" by Sessions and the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility and said Rosenstein should "bring an end" to the Russian Federation investigation "manufactured" by Comey.
McCabe has vigorously disputed the allegations and said his credibility had been attacked as "part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally" but also the Federal Bureau of Investigation and law enforcement.
He was appointed by Special Counsel by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who was himself put in place by Trump. But Mueller continues to explore whether collusion occurred and whether Trump or others may have obstructed justice.
That's according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation who wasn't authorized to discuss the memos publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
