Kristen Wiig will feature in Wonder Woman 2, confirms filmmaker Patty Jenkins

Wonder Woman 2 has its Cheetah, and Gal Gadot couldn't be more thrilled. To keep up the anticipation, director Patty Jenkins gave the audience an exciting bit of news.

Wiig will be playing the role of Cheetah, a/k/a Barbara Ann Minerva, an archaeologist who takes a bloodthirsty human-cheetah form thanks to an alliance with an ancient plant god, Urzkartaga. Jenkins herself couldn't contain her excitement when tweeted out - So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! "And SO excited by what we have planned", Jenkins wrote.

To this, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot tweeted, "I'm SO excited welcome on board Kristen!".

They love to monologue and they love to lie, both skills Wiig perfected with her just-left-of-sociopath character Penelope, habitual hyperbolizer (a word I just made up and that you should feel free to spread around). The film's story will focus on Cheetah and we will probably get to see her backstory as well.

The sequel reportedly begins filming in May and is scheduled for release November 1 next year. Given her work on shows like Saturday Night Live and films like the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, there's little doubt that Wiig has developed a reputation as more of a comedic actress than an action star.
