Music, festivities and fireworks expected as PSL 2018 opening ceremony kicks off


Former Test captain and commentator Ramiz Raja said on Thursday that he would like to see final of the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars. A total of 4 venues will be hosting all these matches including Dubai, Sharjah, Lahore and Karachi.

Hosted by film star Hareem Farooq and Bilal Ashraf, Pakistani heart-throb Ali Zarfar performed on a song of his upcoming Pakistani film Teefa.

PSL 2018 begins with Darren Sammy's team taking on Shoaib Malik-led Multan Sultans.

The first match will be played between defending champions Peshawar Zalmi and new franchise Multan Sultans at 10pm tonight (Pakistan time).

He also welcomed the new entrant Multan Sultans into the league.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi said he hopes that in 2019 the entire tournament will be played at home.

"We found Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman and Hasan Ali from the first two editions of the PSL so the main aim is to hone the talent of local players", he told AFP.

The ceremony kicked off with national anthem of Pakistan.

"We are having three matches in Pakistan this year".

The opening ceremony will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 22. He was expertly backed up by Mohammad Irfan, whose extra bounce proved particularly troubling for last year's leading run-scorer Kamran Akmal; he fell for a duck attempting to pull cross the line.
