Army destroys Indian post after minor killed in cross-border LoC firing

Pakistani repeated provocations have came after Indian army thwarted Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) strike killing one intruder and injuring two others on the LoC in Gulpur area of Poonch sector of Jammu division on Sunday.

"This is a preventive measure taken to ensure that there are no civilian casualties", he added.

On February 19, three civilians were injured in the heavy firing when the Pakistan army violated an unprovoked ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri Sector.

According to locals, Indian and Pakistani soldiers resorted to firing at Churanda, the last village on the Line of Control in Uri located on a mountain beneath Hajipeer at around 5pm on Monday. However, Pakistani troops are targeting Indian positions on LoC and International Border (IB) nearly daily in Jammu region.

"We spoke with them [the counterparts in New Delhi] but they don't seem serious in [the] peace efforts", he added.

Another official said India was blaming Pakistan for the tension.

"That has only increased the sufferings of people on both sides".

It also raises concern and anxiety regarding the mushrooming growth of radical elements and warmongers in India and Pakistan who exploit the situation on LoC to promote hatred between the two countries.
