Zinedine Zidane not anxious about future at Real Madrid despite poor run

Continuing their longest run in the history of Champions League, Madrid are playing their 21st consecutive season.

The Portuguese superstar enjoyed another memorable year in 2017, with his exploits allowing him to sweep the board when it comes to major individual honours.

"I don't have to show anything tomorrow, all I can do is focus on the game and that is what is important for me right now".

"I have no doubt that is what cost us the previous years".

Yet in the crunch Champions League fixtures, Ronaldo is a different animal.

When the big games arrive the 33-year-old tends to turn up, and in some style.

He bagged a flawless hat-trick for Real in his last outing and has struck seven times in his last four matches.

But he added: "If we go to the other side of the world and ask people, everyone knows Real Madrid, and this isn't the case yet for PSG".

"This is not some other club - the slightest negative thing here and the media make a song and dance out of it".

He has responded to the challenge of Neymar's arrival perfectly and will be key to PSG's hopes.

Previously Ronaldo, who helped Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title and was a crucial cog of the Galacticos wheel, represented the Catalan giants first before moving to Inter Milan and then coming returning to Spain to don the white of Real Madrid. There is no way to discipline him if needs be seeing as the No. 10 has a direct line to Nasser Al Khelaifi - the PSG president - who pulled out all the stops to ensure his signing in the first place and who is doing everything to make sure he's happy.

It is also written that the Selecao star is bored with life in Paris compared to the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. The Brazilian sensation has scored 28 goals in only 27 appearances across all competitions this term, while also providing 16 assists.

The time has arrived for the headline act of the 2017/18 Champions League to get underway.

"(Neymar and Ronaldo) are both quick, very strong one-on-one, they play quickly and put a lot of intensity into their games", said PSG winger Angel Di Maria, a Champions League victor alongside Ronaldo at Madrid in 2014.

Defensively, however, he was caught out of position on several occasions, especially during Spurs' 3-1 win at Wembley. It will be his biggest test in a PSG shirt so far.

But Zidane has tried to dampen the scrutiny on him ahead of the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Spurs star has yet to complete a full game for Real this season as he eases his way back from injury.

Ronaldo is expect to start in the "BBC" front three with Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

"The only club I couldn't play for is Newell's Old Boys because I am a fan of Rosario Central".

PSG: Areola; Alves, Marquinhos, Silva, Kurzawa; Diarra, Verratti, Rabiot; Mbappe, Cavani, Neymar.

They will be looking to the Champions League's all-time leading goalscorer to aid their quest for a third successive triumph in that particular competition, with a heavyweight last-16 encounter with Paris Saint-Germain next on the agenda.

23 - Only PSG (25) scored more goals than Liverpool (23) in the group stages.

Ronaldo thinks that Isco is slowing down the tempo of the game by taking too many touches.

Only Sevilla's Ever Banega (613) has completed more passes in the competition this season than Verratti (541).
