Oyinlola, other OBJ associates inaugurate National Coalition

The Sun newspaper said the promoters of the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) have unveiled its agenda, with former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the arrowhead.

He also noted that All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have not been able to meet the aspirations of Nigerians adding that there is need to reevaluate and recalibrate ourselves in order to make progress.

Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo had in a special press statement, pushed for the formation of the movement as a "third force" to complete the political space with the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They also confirmed Chief Obasanjo's support for the coalition.

"To say we are legitimising Obasanjo's legacy I think it is a bit off the mark".

He also weighed in on ex-president Obasanjo's letter to Buhari, adding that Obasanjo was not in any position to give advice.

In his words, Dr Abdul-Jelil Tafawa Balewa lamented that "our generation was cheated because we were told then that we could not rule them but we are trying to pave the way to be a bridge to build the Nigeria of our dreams".

On the vexed issue of order/schedule of National Elections, the coalition suggested that the States Assembly and National Assembly elections should be held on the 16th of February 2019 while the governorship and Presidential election should hold on the 2nd of March 2019 to forestall the negative influence of the bandwagon effect. "This time, we must ask, pray and work for change with unity, security and progress".

"Buhari and Osinbajo have absolute integrity; if we don't make use of them now, I don't know when next we will have leaders like them", he said. "We must all come together to change the narrative".
