Britain's Princess Eugenie engaged to long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank

Buckingham Palace announced Princess Eugenie's engagement to Jack Brooksbank on Monday.

However, on closer inspection, Eugenie's ring bears a stronger resemblance to the one her mother, Sarah Ferguson, wore when she became engaged to Prince Andrew.

The palace said the wedding will take place at St. George's Chapel in Windsor.

In a bumper year for royal celebrations, their wedding will follow that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at St George's Chapel on May 19. He is the manager of Mayfair haunt Mahiki - a known nightspot for the likes of Princes William and Harry in their clubbing days - and has hosted members of the royal family on nights out.

Mr Brooksbank said: "It was fantastic".

Since the announcement, photos of Eugenie's engagement ring have been shared in the couple's official engagement pictures.

Eugenie is a graduate of Newcastle University and eighth in line to the throne.

Princess Eugenie's happy engagement news came the day after she accompanied her grandmother, the Queen, to a church service in Sandringham.

St George's Chapel seats around 800 people, Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie's wedding days will by no means be small occasions.

In the photographs, Princess Eugenie is wearing a dress by Erdem, shoes by Jimmy Choo and a ring containing a padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds. Along with it she has the option to take Jack's Surname Brooksbank.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh wished their granddaughter "all the best".

In a statement, Brooksbank's parents said they were "very excited" for their son and the princess. She wrote: "Total joy".

Fergie was seen as a "breath of fresh air", fun but lacking grace, unlike Diana, when she burst into the Royal Damily as Prince Andrew's bride in 1986.

We've def got a few questions though - 2018 is so far a rather great year for love with two Royal weddings happening, do we reckon a third will happen to make it a hat trick?!
