There Are Currently "No Plans" for Netflix on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch's second year seems to be a much more important one that the year before was. We're talking about a Nintendo Switch Emulator which is yet to be discovered. Many inclusions that would be deemed standard, like an internet browser or a YouTube app, still aren't available nearly one year after launch. The Switch was also responsible for driving accessory sales, which jumped 33.7% over last year's holiday season. So popular, in fact, that it's now the fastest-selling game console in USA history.

Of course, there's not a lot to go on yet besides a brand new twitter account for Yuzu, but in the first few tweets, we're already seeing progress. As for its release on console, the game eventually came to the Nintendo eShop on Wii U in 2016 as well as the PS4 in 2017.

Although Netflix doesn't appear to be on the horizon, the Switch does now offer a Hulu app. "Stay tuned for more from the yuzu team!"

Yuzu and Citra have many similarities due to the similarities in the architectural design of 3DS and Switch, which has lead the authors of the previous emulator to gain interest in emulation for the Nintendo Switch, both devices use the same project architecture meaning improvements in emulators will be consistent for both devices.

Despite the Switch being one of the fastest-selling consoles in video game history with record-breaking game sales, there are now no plans to launch a Netflix app on the system. Unfortunately, its developers state on the website that they are actively working toward enabling the Nintendo Switch emulator to play commercial titles. The recent Nintendo Direct Mini also showcased what gamers can expect from the Nintendo Switch, including new games such as The World Ends With You: Final Remix and Kirby Star Allies plus updates for Pokken Tournament DX and Super Mario Odyssey. That said, Nintendo knows that it is still too early to claim victory as 2018 will be a crucial year for the future of its hybrid console.
