Airtel announced a Rs. 199 prepaid pack to compete with Jio's Rs. 199 pack. Plan 398 of Jio offers 105GB data for 70 days. These prepaid recharge plans offer different data limits and come with different validity periods. This means users will get 84GB of data during the validity period, up from 70GB. With the new Rs. 399 pack, Airtel is now offering 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls - local, STD, and roaming, 100 SMSs per day for all handset users.
Trai's subscriber data showed Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea also registered gains in market share to 24.91%, 18.15% and 16.69% from 24.21%, 17.68% band 16.20% in October respectively. All the plans will offer 100 SMSes per day. The validity of the plan is 70 days.
Vodafone has updated its two plans to take on Jio and Airtel. Now today, Vodafone too has revised its prepaid plans priced at ₹458 and ₹509 to counter increasing competition from incumbent telcos. There are no extra charges for calls made in roaming and no restriction on calls (daily or weekly free calling minutes). In comparison to Airtel, Reliance Jio with its Rs. 398 pack offers 1.5GB high-speed 4G data per day (after 1.5GB Jio offers unlimited data at 64Kbps). Also, subscribers get access to host of Jio apps. Jio Rs. 509 plan has less validity but more daily data allocation than the plans discussed so far - buyers will get 2GB data per day and validity of 49 days. The validity of the plan is 91 days.
Airtel Rs. 509 plan has also been updated to offer more validity, from 84 days to 91 days. Unlimited local, STD, and roaming voice call benefits are also available with this prepaid recharge plan.
