During the opening monologue of the 75th Golden Globe Awards, host Seth Meyers addressed the growing unrest in Hollywood after a year riddled with stories of sexual assault and harassment, as well as claims of gender inequality.

He later added: 'Harvey Weinstein isn't here tonight because I've heard rumors that he's insane and hard to work with.

"The 75th annual Golden Globe Awards kicked off with a red carpet and opening monologue that focused nearly entirely on the growing topic of gender inequality in show business highlighted by the fall of several men in power and the growing "#MeToo" movement.

Hosting the first awards show of 2018, Meyers had a daunting task ahead of him.

Meyers wrapped up his monologue with a thank you to the women in the audience: "I look forward to whatever you'll be leading us into next".

It was not just another red carpet fashion showdown at the 75th Golden Globe Awards, as Hollywood's biggest and brightest stars turned up in all black to support the Time's Up movement, an anti-sexual harassment initiative.

Weinstein's name came up fairly early, with Meyers predicting that, years from now, he'll be booed after his death during the "In Memoriam" segment.

"I truly believe 2018 will be the era of accountability, and I can't think of a better way to kick it off", Cristina Ehrlich, stylist for big-name stars like Penelope Cruz and Brie Larson, recently told TIME. Hey, remember when [Seth Rogen] was the guy making trouble with North Korea? I was happy to hear they're going to do another season of House Of Cards.

He also mocked Spacey's Southern accent in the show, adding.

The most surprising barb from Meyers was directed toward Woody Allen, whose past behavior Hollywood stars, even those vocal about believing women victims, are infamously reticent to comment on.

Following these claims and reports, Weinstein was sacked from the company that bears his name, banned from the Producer's Guild of America and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

"- but those numbers might be off", Chau interrupted, "because a white person did the math". "They tried to get a woman to host this show, they really did".

In his 10-minute plus spiel, Meyers took aim at Hollywood's powerful men and the sexual abuses many of them have been accused of. "If it's any consolation, I'm not even the most powerful Seth in the room tonight", he said as the camera cut to Seth Rogen.

"We're all here tonight courtesy of the Hollywood Foreign Press, a string of three words that could not have been better created to infuriate our president". Quoth Meyers: "The only name that could make him angrier is the Hillary Mexico Salad Association".
