J&K: 2 Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorists Killed In Encounter In Anantnag


"Two militants have been killed so far in an anti-insurgency operation in Larnoo area of Kokernag in Anantnag district", confirmed an Army official.

"They managed to sneak into the nearby forest area, where the security forces followed and managed to gun down one of the militants", a senior police officer told Kashmir Reader.

The identities of the slain militants are being ascertained and combing operations are underway, officials said.

A youth identified as Khalid Dar son of Abdul Salam Dar was killed after the state government forces fired upon protesters in Khudwani area of district Kulgam.

The security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter, he said, adding that a militant was killed in the exchange of fire.

"Two terrorists killed, Operation in progress", Chinar Corps of the Indian Army posted on its official Twitter handle. One of the martyred youth has been identified as Muhammad Farhan Wani.

Hailing from Wangund, Kaimuh village, Farhan had joined Hizbul on June 13 a year ago.

Two persons received bullet injuries with one of them succumbing to his injuries at the hospital, they said.

Fardeen's body was yet to be handed over to his family when this report was being filed.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities snapped mobile internet services in all districts of South Kashmir.
