Rosen prefers Giants over Browns

According to the Schefter report, Rosen plans to meet with his parents after UCLA plays Kansas State in the Cactus Bowl on December 26 before making a decision. In the past three years, the Browns are 4-42.

Privately, Rosen has expressed concern about winding up in Cleveland and would rather be with a more stable franchise, such as the Giants.

The Browns can clinch the top pick with either a loss to the Bears or a victory by the Giants over the Cardinals.

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen gave a spirited defense of players who elect to skip their team's bowl game in favor of preparing for the National Football League draft.

Cleveland is 0-12 and would secure the #1 overall pick if they lose today or if the Giants get a win. Whether or not the Browns have the No. 1 pick will factor into his decision, sources told Schefter.

Yesterday, Fox Sports reporter Bruce Feldman reported that Rosen will sit out the Cactus Bowl "under doctors orders after suffering a concussion late this season".

ESPN's Todd McShay and Mel Kiper both project the college star in the top-five if he were to declare, and the winless Browns are a lock to draft a quarterback at some point.

Rumors of that nature circulated this fall about USC's Sam Darnold, but he denied them in November.

"I didn't say anything about the Browns", Darnold told reporters after the Trojans' practice on November 27. They may want to play in this bowl game, but if they feel like they've locked in their future and need to take care of their kid or families, sisters, brothers, whatever, then I think people should really look into their story and see how football is affecting their life. The Giants now have the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft due to their 2-12 record. One problem: the prospect of Cleveland wanting a quarterback might actually scare off the quarterbacks that Cleveland wants. We wish it is. "I don't think you can call it a trend that people are starting to miss bowl games. And hopefully guy will continue to grow and get better, but you also have to continue to get better at the position".
