New events (such as Dark and Golden Ages), the Loyalty system, Governors, Emergencies, and Historic Events will all make their debut, each of which have significant impacts on playing the game.
Rise and Fall will bring eight new civs, nine new leaders, and bring more units, districts, wonders, buildings, and other additions than you can probably build in a single game. Players can either usher in a golden age or dark ages, which allows for new opportunities and strategy shifting. Golden Ages provide immediate benefits for players, and while Dark Ages are predictably negative, navigating out of one and into a Golden Age triggers a "Heroic" Age, which triples the benefits one would receive from a regular Golden Age.More news: Who Will Host 'SNL' In December?
"With the new Great Ages system in Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Rise and Fall, players can experience the ebb and flow of building empires amidst the challenges of history, either to lasting greatness or the dust of antiquity,"added Anton Strenger, Lead Designer at Firaxis Games". Of course you can also work to grow loyalty to your civilization in another's cities as well, turn their loss to your gain. For those of you that want to take a look back at your civilization's history during the game, a Timeline feature has also been added to enable exactly that. The alliance system will be enhanced, and when a civilization becomes too powerful other civilizations will be able to join a pact against it to earn rewards or penalties.
There's a new loyalty system in place as well, where your individual cities can now add Loyalty points on their own under your leadership. The new content will release on February 8, bringing with it major changes to the ebb and flow of gameplay. Each brings unique bonuses and gameplay, as well as a total of eight unique units, two unique buildings, four unique improvements, and two unique districts. Rise & Fall will be available on February 8th, introducing new leaders, civilisations, wonders, units and much more.
